Dawn Rosen
Vice President, Finance

Ms. Rosen has overseen Avanti’s financial functions, including financial analysis, reporting, control, and compliance, for over 20 years. She was previously the controller of a publishing firm.

Ms. Rosen has a Certified Management Accountant designation from the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario and a BBA from Mount Saint Vincent University.

Patricia VanDerveer
Vice President, Research and Acquisitions

Ms. VanDerveer is responsible for research on local property markets for Avanti’s acquisitions as well as macroeconomic and demographic analysis of Avanti’s targeted markets. She joined Avanti in 1995 and has over 30 years’ experience in real estate analysis and market feasibility studies.

Ms. VanDerveer has a Master’s degree in city planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a BA from Hollins College.

Andrea Shapiro
Vice President, Asset Management

Ms. Shapiro maintains relationships with the real estate professionals in Avanti’s target markets. She supervises land management, including coordinating with engineers for the installation of required infrastructure improvements.

Prior to joining Avanti in 2002, she was the director of real estate leasing and operations for Harcourt Inc. and with the Real Estate Group of Chemical Bank.

Ms. Shapiro has an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a BS from Eastern Connecti-cut State University.

Anne Kabourek
Director, Asset Management

Ms. Kabourek supervises land management, including maintenance and property tax administration. Ms. Kabourek coordinates with Avanti’s counsel and an Avanti principal on closings of dispositions. Prior to joining Avanti in 1998, she was a planning analyst at the University of Michigan Medical Center.

Ms. Kabourek has an MBA from Oakland University and a BA from the University of Michigan.

Laura Forbes
Financial Analyst

Laura joined Avanti in 2003 and is responsible for financial analysis and reporting. Prior to joining Avanti, she was a consultant working with various investment firms in the capacity of Project Manager. She has been in the real estate business for over 15 years and was a senior manager responsible for financial operations for a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management, the property investment and real estate merchant banking firm.

Laura has a Certified Management Accountant designation from the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario and a BMath from The University of Waterloo.
